Recent Major NDIS Changes: Things You Must Know
Most Recent NDIS Changes: Top News
How do you cope with the NDIS changes as participants?
NDIS works to offer better flexibility and clarity to you. It has also brought some of the changes from 3rd October 2024.
Your experience won’t deteriorate. You will undergo the same NDIS as you are doing currently.
The purpose of the NDIS remains unchanged. Fundamentally, the NDIS will give information, support, and education to you about the NDIS changes. You will also get a 12-month transition period to help you get aligned with the new changes.
What are the prominent changes that initiate on the 3rd of October?
- Definition of NDIS Support – The Australian Government has introduced a definition of NDIS support. It is to give better clarity on the usage of funds. From 3rd October onwards, you can only spend NDIS funding on things that are NDIS Supports or are approved replacements for NDIS Supports.
- Substitution or replacement support – You can request to replace current NDIS support with non-NDIS support. This can take place when a standard item may provide better outcomes. The goal is to achieve better value and results for you.
- NDIS funding and plans – Now plans will have a total budget amount, funding periods, and funding component amounts. Newer plans will be less than 12 months.
NDIS ensures to keep you updated. You will learn about the changes. NDIS will take your feedback on the changes. NDIS will proceed to make the improvements.
